MMA offers seminars and conferences to manufacturers on timely topics based on recommendations from committees and member firms. Most of the workshops feature speakers from MMA member firms who have the day-to-day experience necessary to relate to Mississippi industry. These topics include, but are not limited to, issues relating to regulations and employment as well as training for supervisors. Most of MMA's seminars have been approved by the Mississippi State Tax Commission and the State Board for Community and Junior Colleges for income tax credit under the Skills Training Tax Credit Program. Manufacturers who pay Mississippi income taxes and participate in MMA’s seminars can earn a 50% tax credit, not to exceed $2,500 per year, for each employee who is a Mississippi resident attending a seminar. To qualify, contact your local workforce training coordinator at least three weeks prior to the seminar, then contact MMA to register for the seminar. In addition, the MMA Work Comp Group will pay the registration fee for its current members to attend many seminars related to safety in the workplace. Those seminars are marked with an (*) below.
Cost Costs may vary, but, generally, the one-day workshops are $149 per person for MMA members and $215 for nonmembers. Two-day workshops are $250 per person for MMA members and $315 for non-members. Two-day conferences are $275 per person for MMA members and $350 for non-members. Registrations Pre-registration is required for all seminars and conferences. Registrations may be made until the day before the event. You may register online or by phone, fax, e-mail or mail. Confirmations Confirmations will be sent to all registrants a few days prior to the scheduled event. If you do not receive a confirmation, please contact Barbara Hopkins at barbara@mma-web.org. These confirmations ensure your registration has been received and also serve as a reminder. Registrants who do not cancel 48 hours in advance are responsible for the full registration fee; however, all handout materials will be made available upon request. No-Shows Registrants who fail to show up for a seminar or conference and do not send a replacement will be responsible for the full registration fee. Substitutions Substitutions may be made at any time prior to the beginning of the seminar or conference. MMA Cancellation/Rescheduling/Change of Venue Occasionally, MMA must cancel an event. All registrants will be notified in advance, and the total cost of the seminar or conference will be refunded to those who have already paid.
