12/3/2009 - MMA 2008-09 Chairman Tony Stringer presents gift to Mississippi College

Tony Stringer, president of Stringer Industries, Inc. in Tylertown and immediate past chairman of the Mississippi Manufacturers Association,  presented his MMA Chairman’s Award to the Mississippi College School of Business. Stringer presented the $10,000 gift to Dr. Marcelo Eduardo, Dean of the School of Business, Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the Clinton campus. The MMA Chairman’s Award is presented at the end of each chairman’s term and is to be presented to an educational institution chosen by the outgoing chairman.
 

“The MMA Chairman’s Award represents the MMA’s commitment to education in Mississippi,” said Jay C. Moon, CEcD, FM, MMA president and CEO. “We recognize that a well-educated, well-trained workforce is the key to bringing industry to the state and remaining competitive in our global economy. We hope this gift will enable Mississippi College to offer students a professional business education that emphasizes ethical values in business, providing the marketplace with business leaders who will continue to improve Mississippi industry as a whole.”
 

Stringer is a 1983 graduate of Mississippi College, where he received a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He was selected the1998 Distinguished Alumnus for the Mississippi College School of Business, and in 1999, he was named the Mississippi College Young Alumnus of the Year.
 

Stringer has served on the MMA board of directors since 1996 and as a member of the MMA executive committee since 2005. He also has served on the MMA Vocational Educator Award selection committee since 1994, as well as the MMA Public Relations/Convention Committee.
Stringer is married to the former Carla Morris of Clinton. They have two children, Taylor, who is a sophomore at Mississippi College, and Mary Elizabeth, a 9th grader at Parklane Academy.
