4/20/2009 - MDA Launches Web Site to Provide Information, Answer Questions about MDA Economic Stimulus Programs

In tandem with Gov. Haley Barbour’s April 16 “Mississippi Stimulus Summit," the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) launched a Web site dedicated to providing information about the programs MDA will oversee as a result of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).
This $787 billion economic stimulus legislation has allocated up to $2.8 billion to the state of Mississippi, and it provides the opportunity for states to acquire additional funding through a competitive grant process. The Web site, http://stimulus.mississippi.org, is in place to provide detailed information about each of the programs MDA will be administering; updates will be made to the site as additional information becomes available.
At the Web site, visitors can find descriptions and detailed information regarding the following programs:  Community Development Block Grant Program, Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program, Neighborhood Stabilization Program, State Energy Program and Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program. These programs will be administered by MDA’s Community Services and Energy Divisions.
Information about the following tax incentives can also be found at the Web site:  Small Issue Industrial Development Bonds, Build America Bonds, Qualified School Construction Bonds, Qualified Zone Academy Bonds and New Markets Tax Credits. MDA’s Financial Resources Division will oversee these financing options and tax incentive programs.
“This Web site has been created to provide the most current information available to MDA pertaining to each of the ARRA programs we will administer,” said Gray Swoope, executive director of the Mississippi Development Authority.  “Many people have questions regarding this economic stimulus legislation, and our site has been designed to help address the questions that relate to these programs. The Web site will be updated as new information becomes available, so I encourage visitors to check back often.”
For more information about the programs listed above, please visit http://stimulus.mississippi.org.
