10/6/2008 - Tony Stringer Named Chairman of Mississippi Manufacturers Association; 2008-09 Executive Committee, New Board Members Announced
Tony Stringer of Tylertown has been named 2008-2009 chairman of the Mississippi Manufacturers Association. Stringer is president of Stringer Industries, Inc. in Tylertown. “As we face economic uncertainty in many of our businesses, it’s imperative that we remember the importance of manufacturing to our local communities and in our global economy,” said Stringer. “Our focus at MMA over the next year will be to communicate that manufacturing is the foundation of our economy and that we must work together to keep it strong.” Stringer is president of Stringer Industries, Inc. in Tylertown. He joined the company in 1983. Stringer has served on the MMA board of directors since 1996 and as a member of the MMA executive committee since 2005. He has also served on the MMA Vocational Educator Award Selection Committee since 1994, as well as the MMA Public Relations/Convention Committee. Stringer is a past president of the Walthall County Chamber of Commerce and the Walthall County Arts Council. He is a board member of the Mississippi Lumber Manufacturers Association, the Southern Forest Products Expo Advisory Committee, the Mississippi College School of Business Advisory Committee and the Parklane Academy Band Boosters. He is a member of Tylertown Baptist Church, where he is a deacon and the director of the youth Sunday school department.
Stringer is a 1983 graduate of Mississippi College, where he received a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration. He was selected the1998 Distinguished Alumnus for the Mississippi College School of Business and in 1999 he was awarded the Mississippi College Young Alumnus of the Year.
Stringer is married to the former Carla Morris of Clinton and they have two children, Taylor, who is a freshman at Mississippi College and Mary Elizabeth, an 8th grader at Parklane Academy.
