10/27/2006 - Tommy Dulaney Named Chairman of Mississippi Manufacturers Association; 2006-07 Executive Committee, New Board Members Announced
JACKSON, Miss. (Oct. 27, 2006) Tommy Dulaney of Meridian has been named 2006-2007 chairman of the Mississippi Manufacturers Association. Dulaney is the founder and president of Structural Steel Services in Meridian. “I want to continue to build on MMAs support of our Mississippi business community,” said Dulaney. “We will keep working closely with Gov. Haley Barbour, Lt. Gov. Amy Tuck, the state Legislature and our congressional delegation to continue to improve the business climate in Mississippi for our members and manufacturing.” Dulaney began his professional career as a draftsman at Acme Building Supply and with a local architect before joining Bates Steel as a draftsman and then plant manager. In 1975, Dulaney founded Structural Steel Services, Inc. Dulaney serves on several boards in addition to MMA, including Structural Steel Holding, Inc., Structural Steel Services, Inc., SSS Trucking, Inc., Structural Steel Detailing, Inc., Met-Tech Corporation and Mississippi Power Company. In addition, he serves on the boards of The Riley Foundation, Meridian Community College (MCC) Board of Trustees and Foundation, Meridian Little Theater, Mississippi Economic Council, Hope Village for Children, Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Center, Governor’s Commission on Recovery, Rebuilding and Renewal, Alabama-Mississippi WIRED Project and the East Mississippi Business Development Corp. Dulaney has also been recognized with other community awards, including MCC Alumnus of the Year, the Hartley D. Peavey Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence, the Sam Walton Business Leader Award, the Glen S. Deweese Community Spirit Award and the Meridian Stars Citizen of the Year. Most recently, he was named 2006 Distinguished Citizen by the Choctaw Area Council Boy Scouts of America. In addition to Dulaney, other members of the MMA executive committee are as follows:
