8/3/2006 - 2006 Mississippi Manufacturing Wage, Salary and Fringe Benefit Survey Released
Data Offers Useful Information for Employers and Economic Developers After a five-year absence, the Mississippi Manufacturing Wage, Salary and Fringe Benefit Survey is once again available. The survey, which was compiled by the North Mississippi Industrial Development Association (NMIDA), was last conducted statewide in 2001. “The survey is considered a valuable recruitment tool that is used by local developers, site consultants, existing companies, as well as prospective companies that may be considering Mississippi for relocation or expansion,” said Joe Geddie, executive director of NMIDA. “NMIDA has many requests for this information throughout the year.” “MMA members and economic developers have been anxious to once again have this very useful tool,” said Jay C. Moon, CEcD, president and CEO of the Mississippi Manufacturers Association (MMA). “To fill the void left when the Wage, Salary and Fringe Benefit Survey was discontinued in 2001, MMA worked with a group of interested parties to once again have this survey conducted. The survey results will be valuable for both current and prospective employers.” Additional sponsors of the 2006 wage survey are the Mississippi Development Authority, the Mississippi Economic Development Council, Mississippi Power Company, Entergy Mississippi and the Tennessee Valley Authority. The NMIDA has been conducting wage surveys in north Mississippi since 1961. The survey data is used to help existing and prospective businesses determine prevailing wages and employee benefits based on job titles and geographic areas of the state. The 2006 statewide survey includes the following data from each county as of June 2006:
